Welcome
We are a voluntary group of ordinary members of the public who are concerned about human rights abuses globally and want to take action. We are a local group based in the Kilburn and NW6 area, but welcome everyone.
Our main aim is to campaign and raise awareness about human rights issues by putting pressure on governments, companies and institutions about individuals at risk and also on broader issues such as controlling arms, violence against women and the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers.
We also aim to raise awareness of human rights issues in our local community and support other groups working for the same aims.
There are over 300 local groups in the UK and there are Amnesty offices in 56 countries. Amnesty is at the forefront of the human rights movement globally - but it can only do its work through members, staff and local groups.
You can help in many different ways:
- Come along to our meetings
- Write letters
- Join us for the occasional event
- Make a donation
What we do
Meetings take place on the third Monday of every month at 8pm in the upstairs room of the North London Tavern, 375 Kilburn High Road
At meetings we hear updates on the main campaigns, write letters, occasionally have speakers and organise events in the local community to raise awareness.
